SERVICE CHARACTERISTICS
Club registration
The club registration provides:

Client number: to be used during car booking. |

The smart card enables the car opening |

The PIN number: it musts be entered any time you get into the car in order to record the starting of the travel. Please do not write the PIN on the smart card. |
Kind of vehicle
Currently there are 9 SMART cars available (759 cc, 30KW) which are easily recognisable by the Car atc logo positioned on the cars sides.
Each car is marked out by an acronym taking the name of the parking area where the car is located, the number of the belonging category and the car specific number.
Parking places
Presently the Car atc s reserved places, recognisable by special markings, are the following parking ones:

VEHICLE USE
Bookings
The car booking can take place at the telephone centre or directly via Internet, through www.caratc.it web site, at any time of the day for a at least one hour use. During the booking service users have to give their personal details: Name, client number, the wanted car and the forecast time of use.
If the required car has already been booked, it is possible to choose another one or lag the booking time.
Via mobile radio communication the booking data is sent direclty into the onboard computer of the booked car.
Use
To open the car it is necessary to position the card on the windshield lower side in correspondence to the onboard computer sensor : this way the card is identified, the little usually red light turns into yellow. The onboard computer checks, if there is a current reservation for this smartcard. If so, the light turns into green within some seconds and the doors are unlocked immediately.
Otherwise, the onboard computer sends a request to the reservation centre and waits up to one minute for a reply. During this time, the yellow light is blinking. If valid booking data arrives within this time, the yellow and green light blink alternating. The doors are unlocked immediately, if the customer puts his card once again in front of the sensor.
Once in the car it is necessary to enter the PIN on the computer that is on the right
hand side of the seat. If the number is correctly entered the immobilizer of the car is released and the car can be started with the ignition key.
The ignition key is kept in a "keyholder" in the glove compartment. Pull slightly to remove the key out of the "keyholder". During the trip, the car is locked and unlocked with the key and not with the smartcard!
Car restitution
Car restitution must take place in the origin parking area.
When the engine is switched off, on the onboard computer the following question is displayed: Do you wish to return the car right now? To confirm the car restitution press YES button.
All cars dispose, in the objects box holder, of a logbook where a block notes containing travel sheets useful for the time confirmation and the run kilometres is kept. The original copy of those sheets has to be left in the logbook, the other copy is for the user's sake.
Afterwards the car key must be returned into its "keyholder". The car has to be locked with the smartcard.
In case the car could not lock, check if the doors are shut completely and if the ignition key is inserted correctly into the keyholder in the glove compartment. Before abandoning the car please check if all lights and radio are switched off and that nothing personal is left behind.

OTHER INFORMATION
Reservations cancellation
Confirmed reservations can be deleted at any time according to the following modalities:

For less than 4 days uses cancellation is for free up to 24 hours before the travel starts. |
|
|
For more than 4 days uses cancellation is for free up to 96 hours beforehand. |
|
|
For cancellations over those terms users will be subject to 30% invoice according to the foreseen cost of the cancelled travel. |
|
|
In case of advanced restitution it may be convenient to cancel the booked left time so to save the 70% of the cost of the left time and allow others short terms bookings. |
Reservation extension
If it is not possible to return the car in the planned time it is necessary to call the operative centre immediately in order to lengthen the reservation: if the car has not been already booked from other users a new term of re-entry will be confirmed,
otherwise the extension, only possible for emergencies, will be followed by a penalty charge of Lit 25.000 each hour delay.
If the delay is not signalled the user will be responsible of a penalty charge of Lit. 40.000 and the cost per hour will be calculated at a double tariff compared to the one usually applied.
The amounts deriving from penalties will be used to refund users damaged for delays.
Car condition check
Once the vehicle is committed it is necessary to check its internal and external conditions: possible visible damages which have not been signalled on the log book from other users and tested by technicians of the society, must be communicated to the reservation service or signalled on the log book before starting the travel and by specifying not to be responsible..
Please do not use damaged cars.
Refuelling
Each Car atc is equipped with a fuel card, which enables the cars to refuel at AGIP and IP service stations in Italy without cash payment as long as in the presence of the staff. (The distributor list is provided together with the card). When paying with the card it will be necessary to give the code written on the car key metal plate, the fuel cost will be automatically billed at ATC, while the use is comprised in the kilometre cost.
Refuelling stations where it is not possible to use AGIP and IP card.
If it is not possible to refuel the car at AGIP and IP stations, the user will have to anticipate the amount, keeping the receipt which carries the client number and the car acronym as evidence and forward it for refunding.
The same for small damages fixings or immediate car washings at not arranged fuel pumps.
Travels abroad
To travel abroad it is necessary to reach an agreement with the society offices beforehand (tel. on page 1) : These ones will provide the user with the original documents and the green card.
By travelling abroad the cost in kilometres is lower than the one normally applied, however the user will have to pay in advance the refuelling costs: at the beginning of the travel the vehicle must be refuelled up with the usual fuel card, then at the end of the travel, it will be required to render the car at the same conditions (tank filled up).
Kids
At the parcheggio Tanari there will be type-tested and different sized chairs at children disposal.
Smokers
On all Caratc cars smoking is seriously forbidden.
Animals
It is not allowed to transport any kind of animal.
Intermediate stops
Before switching the car off, the onboard computer will display " Do you wish to return the car right now? ".
In case of reuse it will possible to press the "NO" button. At this stage the car will only be locked with the ignition key. After the break you can start the car immediately without using the smartcard or PIN code.

Travels calculation is on a monthly basis by calculating the most advantageous price (ex. 3 days and 13 hours as being 4 days ). After 8 days invoice date, the amount will be directly billed on the users bank account.
In case the user notices errors or omissions he has to signal it within 6 weeks from invoice emission date: the company will provide to introduce changes in the first invoice.

Claims
Users have to signal any possible car carelessness caused from the previous driver: this way the company is able to provide to vehicle cleaning as soon as possible and ask for further respect to those ones who have left the car in such conditions.
Here follows the description on how to behave in certain claims cases.
Car out of its place: It is necessary to immediately inform the reservation centre. If possible the car will be substitute with another one parked in the same parking area, otherwise the user will be subject to a credit note of 25.000.
This amount will be used from the user to go by taxi to another parking area to take another vehicle or go directly to the destination desired.
The car is left in bad cleaning conditions : In case the car is such filthy not to be reused, it is necessary to contact the operative centre to signal the situation and ask for a substitute car. This way the damaged user will receive a credit note as a refunding for the disturb caused, while the extra cleaning need will be billed to the user leaving the car in a such condition.
Accidents
In case of a road accident it is necessary to call the Municipal policemen immediately so to fasten the insurance aspects and the operative centre to inform about the fact.
All users are asked never sign up the fault recognition or try to minimise damages.
Card lost
In case of smartcard loss it is necessary to inform the reservation centre so to block it by treating it as a Eurocheque card.
Remember: do not write your PIN code on the card.
Breakdowns
A convention with ACI (Automobile Club Italiano) was agreed: in case of breakdowns, users will have to pay a contract price.
Cleaning and maintenance
The company provides to the periodical vehicles cleaning and maintenance, anyway the user is asked to leave the vehicle in good conditions, and, in case of negligence, to him to provide to the cleaning.
For more than 500 kilometres travels, he is asked to check tyres pressure and the oil level.
Security pack (SiPack)
Users participation for damages amounts to Lit. 3.000.000 with Kasco Insurance or with offence. Buying "Security pack" it is possible to reduce the amount of the participation at Lit. 500.000, while Kasco partial insurance the personal responsibility is still Lit. 250.000.
Data Protection
The contracting parties only exchange few data useful for the service and identify the client in case of damages.
These data only are only used for the purpose they were transmitted.
In case of irregularities or incidents with foreign vehicles for damages the company is due to treat data concerning the car driver and consign them to the owner of the vehicle; to the concerning insurance company or to the due authority.
