Company presentation

ATC logo

ATC, which has been a joint-stock company since December 2000, serves the residents of Bologna and its Province with its urban, suburban and extra-urban services. Service quality, consideration for customers' needs, customer loyalty initiatives and promotional campaigns and respect for the environment are the Company's main characterisics in recent years.

Upgrading its fleet and purchasing low environmental impact vehicles such as electric buses, hybrid buses and those running on methane is very important to ATC; by 2006 the company will own a total of 233 vehicles of this kind. The brand new methane fast fill-up station for buses inside the depot will shortly be inaugurated, a first for Italy.

ATC has set up the company FBV (Bologna - Vignola Railway) with FER and reintroduced the rail service in September 2003, with unexpectedly good results with an hourly service: up to 2,000 passengers a day.

More recently, work began on creating new lines for trams running on rubber. Work is due to be completed in 2007.

The network's tele-assisted system that, besides guaranteeing a more efficient and effective service, has made way for the development of further information systems for the user, both on board the bus and at bus stops: ranging rods and information-giving shelters, i.e. shelters with info panels giving information in real time; the Hellobus system, thanks to which one may receive real time information in just a few seconds, on bus times, using a simple mobile phone text message.

News in technology applied to transport: new ticket machines on board urban buses means greater convenience for passengers; the multimedia system WOB (Welcome On Board) for on-board information; solar-powered bus stop info panels.

INFORMATION AND COMUNICATION

Information, travel news, suggestions and complaints; ATC has set up various communication channels with the customer, which a person may use in relation to his or her specific needs:

Each year, ATC runs various advertising campaigns to promote products and services and to involve its customers. Particular attention is paid to annual travel ticket holders, which numbered more than 25,000 at the end of 2003, showing an exceptional growth trend, partly due to specific contracts with Companies and Institutions for the sale of season tickets at agreed fares.

Customer loyalty remains a primary objective of this company, whose annual ticket holders have access to special events, advantages and opportunities. In particular, the SMS news service, active since 2001, sends useful info to the mobile phones of those requiring the service, who now number around 15,000.
